Who is the PTO?

 When does the PTO meet?

The PTO meets in the Library on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:45pm, and childcare is generally provided. Our first meeting this year was on Monday September 16th.  Agenda items may be submitted to any board member.  All Woodbrook parents and staff are welcome and encouraged to attend!

How do I become a PTO member?

Every parent/guardian of a Woodbrook student and every employee of the school are PTO members.  The PTO charges no dues, yet does ask families to contribute voluntarily either by supporting annual fundraisers or by making direct donations to the PTO (the Woodbrook PTO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and therefore direct donations are tax deductible.) We particularly appreciate your volunteer time!

How does the PTO raise money?

This year will have several major fundraisers, as well as other smaller events as well. Our first fundraiser will be Innisbrook Gift Wrap sales in late September. Students will receive details and order forms in September.  We will also be trying a new catalog fundraiser in November called Equal Exchange, featuring organic items such as coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Our annual Fun Fair in the Spring is another way we raise money.  The PTO also benefits when families participate in various retail programs, such as Box Tops for Education and purchases made with registered grocery cards at Kroger, Harris Teeter, and Food Lion.  Look for more details on how to link your store loyalty cards to Woodbrook in the weeks ahead. Thank you in advance for your support!

What does the PTO do for students, teachers and other staff members?

The PTO provides several assemblies/cultural events throughout the year, sends students to Leadership Camp and trainings and defrays the cost of fields trips for all students. The PTO also hosts Family Dinner night, Bingo Night, the Sweetheart Dance, the talent show, and assists with Field Day.  In past years, thanks to your support of PTO fundraisers, we have able to purchase PE equipment, art supplies, and many other items for our school. We also coordinate several staff luncheons and organize activities for Staff Appreciation Week. New ideas are happily considered!

How can I help?

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend monthly meetings, or to contact the officers at the numbers/addresses above to get more information. Various volunteer opportunities will be advertised throughout the year. Every little bit helps, whether you have an hour to make photocopies or whether you run a whole event!

How can I get information about PTO meetings and activities?

The PTO encourages all families to provide contact information (see attached forms) so we can keep everyone in the loop.  Yellow flyers about PTO events also come home in your child’s homework folder. In addition, you can subscribe to WoodyBytes- our electronic newsletter that comes out once a week. A sign-up sheet for WoodyBytes is attached to this letter. This will keep you up to date on what is going on at Woodbrook.
